Utah Valley 1/2 Marathon 2011

So a few months ago Tob and I decided we wanted to run this race again this year and so the training began! This time around it was much different for me though. Lots of pain in my knee from my I.T. band. Training was hard. I went and had a cortisone shot and it didn't even touch it. I tried anti-inflamitories, rolling it out, resting...everything I could think of...but when it came down to it I really wanted to run it. So I did. We spent the night in Provo and the whole time I just kept thinking how am I going to do this, what's going to happen if the pain is so bad I can't move my leg etc etc. We woke up at 3:30 am to get on the busses by 4:30. The race started at 6:00 am. The gun went off and we started running.(Tob took off he runs much faster than me:) I hadn't even hit HALF a mile when my knee started hurting, and by mile 2 I was in full blown pain. It was awful. I wasn't sure what to do, but my adrenaline kicked in and I just tried to take turns walking as fast as I could then running as fast as I could with keeping my knee as straight as possible. So dumb I know. Not sure how I made it but was so happy to see Toby smiling at me at the finish line. I limped around for the next couple hours, but by later that night..I was in so much pain I couldn't walk. Toby was a Rock Star for the next two days. Cash had a birthday party that afternoon. Toby took care of buying the present, wrapping it, taking and picking him up, taking care of Elle, cooking me a STEAK dinner with garlic toast and vegetables, cleaning up the house, bathing and putting the kids to bed, icing and wrapping my knee..and this all went on for two days. What a wonderful person. I am so grateful for him. We have so much fun doing this together. I absolutely love running so I've got to get my knee issues worked out. One of my goals is to run this race every year. Tob wants to do the full next year...but I think I'm content to stay with my half:)

Hogle Zoo Fieldtrip

My only explanation for why Elle and I didn't get a picture together at her fieldtrip is that I was watching 25 little 6 year olds and was in charge of 5 other children not including my own...and I really hated to lose one of them. Apparently that's frowned upon. It was really wonderful to spend that one on one time with Elle. (IF you can call that one on one:) I loved watching her interact with her classmates. She is a VERY social little girl. The bus ride up was so funny..the song DYNAMITE came on and every child on that bus was singing at the top of their lungs. The line "I'm going to rock this club" sounded a little funny coming out of their little mouths. Already having to plan the next trip back since my little guy Cash wasn't able to come. I told Elle not to talk about it at all in front of him, and tried really hard to sidetrack him while we left. I just didn't want him to feel bad he couldn't go. When we got back to my mom's where Jamie was watching him he said, "Hey Elle, how was your first trip on a school bus to the zoo?" So much for keeping things quiet. Also another funny sidenot..or not funny depending how you look at it. After spending the whole day getting ready for this, riding the bus, walking the zoo, eating lunch as a class, and coming home, as Elle and I are holding hands and walking to our car she says, "Mom can we do something fun today?" Seriously??!!!!! Ah!!!!!!!

Pirate Pizza

There's no place on earth I'd want to go if these three people weren't with me. I'm never happier than when I'm with them. Just a simple outing to keep the motivation going with our scripture chart...but such a memorable one! Love this pic of Elle playing her video game while holding on to all her tickets. She's quite the little multitasker.

T-BALL!!!

I don't think I even need to write very much on this post. The pictures do all the talking. Could a boy in baseball uniform be any cuter than this? This is Cash's first year playing t-ball and I didn't expect to be as taken with him in his little uniform out there playing as I am. Maybe it's the fact that he looks so grown up or I don't know...he's just beyond adorable. The other day as soon as we got to the field he just ran up to his coach and said, "Hey coach, where do you want me?" and I just beamed. Can't even imagine how Toby felt:) He's been hitting great and running fast, just needs some work on his concentration... so funny we'll look out there and he'll just be sitting down picking grass or talking to the kid on third base. Actually the whole darn game you're just laughing or smiling because these little boys are hilarious. Running the whole way with the bats, or stealing bases when you shouldn't be, or all of the boys crying in the outfield if they didn't get the ball that was hit. The other day when a ground ball was hit to Cash we all kept yelling to him to throw it to 1st but he was just so excited he got it he just held it up high and kept smiling at Tob and I. And I certainly smiled back.
