After much anticipation and approximately a two month countdown we are happy to announce that Elle has turned six! She had been waiting and waiting for the day to come and I think she changed the theme of her party three times.(She may or may not had a little help from her mom to come up with the right one.) We went with Rainbows. I've LOVED rainbows since I was a little girl and my rainbow party was my favorite so I wanted to do the same for Elle. The week before her party I lost my wedding ring...that's a different story with many dramatic details that should wait for another time...but the point was that for 4 or 5 days before her party all I could focus on was finding my ring. After I found it I finally felt like I could start planning her party and I was so glad I could do it with a clear mind because it was so much fun! I loved coming up with the decorations, and favors. She helped with all the details: the colors, the invite, decorating the cake (my first fondant cake:), and the games we played. The only invite I could find left over was one Elle had accidently written a name at the top. Ah well. It was cute. We had all her little friends dress in their favorite color and her in her rainbow dress. We played twister, Don't Eat Pete with skittles, Pass the Parcel (rainbow style), fruitloop necklaces, and made rainbow colored streamers. We ate fruit pizza, rainbow sherbet, cake, rainbow fish crackers, and more. She was so darling with all of her friends and was so happy all day. We kept the party going throughout the evening and had both mine and toby's families over for more celebrating. The night before her birthday she said, "One of the reasons I like my birthday so much is I don't have to go downstairs for breakfast." She knows she was getting breakfast in bed, balloons on the ceiling, and Cash and I took treats to her class. She got her go go walking pupppy from Granpa and Grandma Christensen, a book of mormon with her name engraved on it from Grandpa and Grandma Downs, and pictures of our gift to her to come.(We love celebrating birthdays at our house but I have to admit I'm not sure what i'll do when we have more than two children:)Let me re-emphasize that this is one SPECIAL little girl. She was the first grandchild on both sides of the family. She made Toby and I a mom and dad, our parents grandparents, our brothers and sisters aunts and uncles, and grandparents great-parents. I can guarantee that she hasn't ever known what it was like to not be LOVED.

Easter 2011
Easter came a little later in the month this year which allowed for us to fit a few more "Easter Activities" into the mix. Coloring eggs, easter egg hunts, visiting Grandma's and Grandpa's, Easter parties, putting whipped cream on Josie's face and throwing marshmallows at her trying to get them to stick (for real), finding the easter baskets, and Elle and Cash getting completely spoiled by mom and dad with new bikes for this spring and summer. The highlight this Easter personally for me was the easter dress I sewed for Elle. I have an ultra talented mother in law(but i don't like saying "in law" so we'll just call her Mom2) that I couldn't have done it without. I am extremely extremely pleased with how it turned out and think it may be my best work yet:) These aren't the best pictures of it so I'll some better ones soon. Happy Happy Easter!!!!
