The Week After Christmas and New Years

I always love the week after Christmas. We get to just relax and play with the Christmas gifts and enjoy being together. We did lots of legos and fun makeovers with my face steamer and my celuma  and then lots of movie nights.

We also had the funnest New Years. Toby and I planned such a fun nights with lots of different games, left right center, and a candy bar syran wrap game and a soda bottle game and a balloon drop. We had the best night and laughed our heads off. I'm not sure I'm going to be able to live it up to this party next year haha.

Christmas Day

We had yet another beautiful Christmas! The kids are so fun first thing in the morning and I can't even imagine how much I'm going to miss their childlike excitement when they are grown. It's just pure magic. They all slept together upstairs. They wake up at the break of dawn and start calling to us. We go upstairs and have a little lesson then give our gifts to Jesus for the year. Then I get the music going, see that Santa has come and they line up on the stairs and run down!!!! THEN THE OPENING of PRESENTS! So fun to see their reactions and all of their excitement. They got some fun things but I don't feel like Santa over did it at all. We ate breakfast than headed out to Kathys. We enjoyed our time there with them snacking and opening gifts. Toby and I surprised them with our main gift in Alpine with Toby coming around the corner driving a go kart. haha. All of the kids were confused until they realized it was theirs! haha They were so excited! We took urns driving it and then headed to my parents to do the same thing. We went strong and hard the whole day and I loved every second of it!

The Christmas Card Project and Christmas Eve

I think a new tradition has been born.  Josh had a great idea over the Thanksgiving Holiday to deliver pies to people who have to work during the holiday at gas stations. It ended up being a really special experience and he wanted to keep the giving going over this Christmas holiday. He came up with an even called the Christmas Card project. People donated money and he put together the sweetest Christmas poem and the cutest wire star and put a gift card inside and then we got together with a whole bunch of people to deliver this cards to random people that we may feel inspired to give them too. He ended up well exceeding his goal and it was so neat to watch it all come together. It even made it on the news which was neat. Our family took a handful of cards and ended up taking them downtown and we have a couple of really neat experiences down there. Particularly with one family who had walked miles with an oxygen tank just to find out their clinic was closed. They looked so defeated but Toby was able to give them a ride and the biggest card/Gift card that we had. It was awesome and I'm so grateful the kids got to witness that kind of giving on Christmas Eve. THAT is what it's all about.

We came home and still got to do that rest of our fun traditions. An awesome fondu dinner, running over to my moms for a nativity, singing, and Christmas pj's, then back home to open sibling gifts and spread reindeer food and put out cookies, and track Santa, and read the Polar Express!!! Whew that's a lot!

It's truly my favorite night of the year. Such a special feeling and so much excitement.
