One Happy Day

Despite the fact that we should have been mowing our lawn, weeding, cleaning out the garage, and working on the other 28 projects we have going around the house...we skipped out and went to Seven Peaks! Layers Clothing was having a fun little fashion show there today and since I sell for them we got free tickets. Gosh we had fun. Where there's sun there's fun. Okay that was cheesey but seriously this spring has not been spring and it was great to have one full day of enjoying the water and some warmth. After we went to my Mom and Dad's and played in our own little "mini" Seven Peaks. Elle and Brooklyn had a blast splashing around and eating popsicles. Even Cash got in on that action. Anyway it was one happy day...and by the way Layers has some extremely cute swimsuits and shirts this summer. Just came out. Check it out at layersclothing.com. (How do you like that plug?)

Memorial Day Memories

I just had to post a little thought on this Memorial Day. Losing a loved one has to be just about the hardest thing a person can go through. I've watched close friends go through the loss of a parent or grandparent and my heart has just gone out to them. About six months ago I went through one of the toughest things I've had to go through with the loss of my sweet Grandpa. He passed away 3 days after Christmas. I never posted anything about it because I'm not good with words plus I was dealing with all of Cash's little health issues but by using this as a journal I realized I wanted to have it documented. I love my Grandpa dearly. He has been a part of every special event throughout my entire life. We have an extremely close extended family and spent a lot of time together throughout the years. My Grandpa made each one of us feel like we were his very favorite...even though I think I really was:) Just kidding JD, Casha & Kate:) I could write for hours going over memories with him. I miss him so much. I love these pictures because these are the last pictures I have with him and a couple of them he took himself! I'm so grateful that Cash got well enough to go with me a couple of times to see him. The nurses all loved taking care of him cause he was their "Happiest" patient. He played the harmonica for them all the time and took pictures of every single person that walked in his room and then he'd transfer them over to his digital picture frame. I miss spending time with him teaching him how to email attatchments and create new folders for all his pictures. I miss how he'd tell a joke and then laugh so hard his cheeks would turn so red at his own joke. I love how every person he met he made feel like they'd been friends for years. I love how he loved my Grandma and put toothpaste on her toothbrush for her every night. I love how at his age he wanted to keep up with technology and use his computer daily. I'm grateful for days like Memorial Day when you can take a break from the world and remember the loved ones that we've lost and miss so dearly.

Catching Up

It seems like a lot has happened since I last posted so I'm going to play catch up for a bit here. First things first...I blew it with my Mothers Day Post. I just want to tell my Mom how much I LOVE her and how THANKFUL I am for her. If I turn out to be half of the mother she is I'll feel like I succeeded. She truly is (next to Toby) my best friend. What a perfect example of a mother. - Speaking of being a good mom...I was running around trying to do dishes and start the laundry and Cash was getting hungry so I put him in his car seat and propped the bottle up...see what a good mom I am? Well the bottle fell out so I asked Elle to go put it back in his mouth. Ten minutes later she yells across the room to me "Mom can I stop now? My arm is starting to hurt!" Wow. I felt so bad but had to grab the camera cause she looked so cute helping him out. Moving on- We had a great weekend minus the Jazz game friday night. Although Cash did look pretty darn CUTE in his little Kyle Korver jersey Grandpa Greg bought him. Saturday we went to Chucky Cheese with the Kelsch's and their family for Bryson Brielle and Payton's birthday. It's always a good time when you're with them...Thanks for letting us tag along guys! That evening we came home and took Elle out for a ride on her new bike with her new bike helmet. Why is it that every little new thing your child does is just the cutest thing ever. Tob and I couldn't stop talking about how adorable she was. We're in love with our kids.

Happy Birthday Elle!

It's hard to believe its been 3 years since Tob and I met and fell in love with our little Elle. I can't begin to explain the joy she's brought into our lives. Her little personality is developing more and more everyday and we find ourselves laughing at just about everything that comes out of her little mouth. She sings me songs everyday and then always finishes by saying "Does that make you happy Mom?" Yes Elle! Your songs make me so happy:) She woke us up the day of her birthday (at 6:30 am) and was so excited knowing this was her special day. She had balloons on her ceiling that she was absolutely thrilled about and she talked those up so much we decided next year we'd try a few less presents and few more balloons. We took her to IHOP for breakfast then came home and gave her her gift...a new trampoline for the backyard. I have been wanting to get one of those forever cause she loves everyone elses so much. Seeing her face was well worth the cost.(I've got to keep reiterating that to Toby:) That night Tob and I took her on her own little date with us. It was wonderful and she was a doll. The next night we celebrated with the Downs' going to Build-a-Bear so her and Brooklyn could make their own little animals and then we came back to the house for a little Strawberry Shortcake Party. My Mom is the Queen of Themes so we had Strawberry Waffles and Shortcake and everything else. She got spoiled with Presents from all her Aunts and Uncles. Now today she is out with Grandpa and Grandma Christensen on her own little date with them. They're going to a movie and shopping and to lunch. She was so excited about this and looked so adorable with her little backpack full of treats and princesses ready to go. Thanks everyone for making her birthday so great! She's a special little girl.
p.s. And for those of you who are wondering...Yes she did get her infamous "Belle" costume
p.s.s. Yes I LOVE Birthdays!
p.s.s.s. No... I have no idea why she smiles with one eye closed
