DECEMBER!!! The most WONDERFUL time of the year!!! SO much to say about this month. So many traditions. December first gifts for the kids, Popinkins comes for the month, Gingerbread houses, Downs Family party, buying for sibling gifts, grinch cookies, driving to Christmas Street, grandkid night, adult dinner night, eating in the snowglobe, the river bottoms and maglebys, Sleeping underneath the Christmas tree, and Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. So much to fit in!!! In between all of this Kemp had 2 different Surgeries. One to remove a cyst that was down in his gums. It caused him a lot of pain after which broke my heart. And then the other one was an endoscopy to scope his esophagus and find out what was going on and why he is having such a hard time swallowing and eating etc. Right after the surgery the Dr. came in and told me he didn’t find anything wrong with his esophagus. He said it looked completely normal and that he thought maybe it’s a possibility that the not being able to swallow could be in his mind because of choking once in New York or something. I told him that is just not like Kemp at all and he assured me he wouldn’t stop and until he gave me more answers. He took a biopsy of 3 different places and told me he’d call me in a couple of days with the results. Well I got that call and he said that the pictures and biopsy showed Celiacs disease. I was blown away. Didn’t see that one coming. So the next couple of weeks were spend at Dr. appointments, doing research, meeting with a nutritionist and learning how to cook gluten free. Not going to lie this is going to rock my world but I’m also so grateful to have answers and get this little boy feeling better. We made him a little section in the pantry where I can buy him snack and gluten free treats and hopefully help him feel a little special because this has been hard on him.
All of the Christmas festivities went perfectly. Toby’s boss Ali took us to Top Golf and then came back to join the family for Gingerbread houses and that was fun:) Also Dallin came to join us going to the Snowglobes for Breakfast and we all loved having him there and showing him that tradition. Super fun.
I loved watching my kids give each other presents on Christmas Eve. That is always a highlight for me. They really think about each other and spend time picking out each gift. I love it so much. Christmas is just amazing. Grateful for both families and all of the time we get to spend together. Especially grateful for our Heavenly Father and gift of His Son, our Savior Jesus Christ. I’m so grateful for Him and his endless love, hope and peace and example. Toby and I always end Christmas Eve with watching It’s a Wonderful Life and that’s how I truly feel. It really is a Wonderful Life.
