Christmas Tree Hunting with the Stevens

The Steven's told us this year they really wanted to go cut down a tree and asked us for any tips or help in how to go about doing it. Seeing as how we are 37 year experts we told them to just come along with us! We've found it easier to go the week before we usually go just to get a head start of sorts:) This would be the perfect time to invite them along and show them the ropes. Josh and the girls came as well as Joran and Kristee and Mads and Dad. It was so fun! Lots of snow!!! As always it was a fun drive up there. We stopped at Connie and Eds and showed them around Preston a bit. We got some Arby's and headed up to the mountains. As we got to the turn off to where we go up in the mountains to get the trees we were exchanging cars and Toby was tired and waiting for us to get our snow clothes on. We piled in the back of the trucks and I thought Toby was just going to follow us. His eyes were closed but it had only been like 4 minutes so I thought there was now way he was asleep. I was wrong. He was totally asleep!!! He didn't follow us and I was up there getting our trees alone and worrying about if he'd be able to find us or what he'd do when he actually woke up. Couldn't really send anyone down either. Totally weird situation. Eventually my dad went down to the bottom and waited for him. He had passed us and found my dad on his way back. Kind of too late to come look for trees etc. But luckily he wasn't upset and had gotten out of being a little stuck somewhere by himself. Kemp was with him in the car and was crying most of the time that he wanted to go up and cut down a tree. So sad! -Good news is we all found the perfect trees in our spot again. Ryan and Max were in a bit of hurry to get home to a BYU game so we didn't quite have enough time to pull the sled and stuff but they got the main idea and it was still tons of fun. I'm sure they've started a new tradition. Once you've had real you can never go back.
