Next on the list of traditions to cross off was the Gingerbread Houses which we host at our house. I love watching all the kids get to do the things that I loved doing as a little kid. Tate especially loves this one and works so hard on his house. He focuses really hard and spends a long time getting it just right. One of my other favorite nights is the Adult Dinner night at my Mom and Dad's. My mom cooks the most incredible meal and just the adults get to come to this one and enjoy a night without kids just talking and laughing and eating the best food. Josh gave us a beautiful lesson that night about being in the world without being of the world and how best to focus on our Savior Jesus Christ. It was a really wonderful night. Next up was the Riverbottoms...another favorite. This year there was no sitting on Santa's knee but we got to kneel a ways in front of him and the kids could still talk to him. They brought their letters that they had written to him but instead of handing them to him there was the cutest little mini moving escalator that you set them on and they moved along until they fell into a bag. My boys loved it. We walked through the toy store, took pictures, and then went and ate at our favorite Magglebys. We ran into coach Dave Rose the old BYU basketball coach so that was fun and Cash got a picture with him.
Then last of all on Saturday evening we went to a Live Nativity put on by an old friend of our in the ward. My goodness they did a lot of work and it was so neat to see live animals, visit different tents where you learned different things about the time Jesus lived in, they handed out little momentos to remind us of Christ and then the last seen was Joseph Mary and baby Jesus. It really was phenomenal and I know my kids felt the spirit there as we gazed on the scene that reminded us of what that night would have felt like. It was really beautiful and a great way to focus on Christ after all the fun and Santa Clause we had had that week!
