I think a new tradition has been born. Josh had a great idea over the Thanksgiving Holiday to deliver pies to people who have to work during the holiday at gas stations. It ended up being a really special experience and he wanted to keep the giving going over this Christmas holiday. He came up with an even called the Christmas Card project. People donated money and he put together the sweetest Christmas poem and the cutest wire star and put a gift card inside and then we got together with a whole bunch of people to deliver this cards to random people that we may feel inspired to give them too. He ended up well exceeding his goal and it was so neat to watch it all come together. It even made it on the news which was neat. Our family took a handful of cards and ended up taking them downtown and we have a couple of really neat experiences down there. Particularly with one family who had walked miles with an oxygen tank just to find out their clinic was closed. They looked so defeated but Toby was able to give them a ride and the biggest card/Gift card that we had. It was awesome and I'm so grateful the kids got to witness that kind of giving on Christmas Eve. THAT is what it's all about.
We came home and still got to do that rest of our fun traditions. An awesome fondu dinner, running over to my moms for a nativity, singing, and Christmas pj's, then back home to open sibling gifts and spread reindeer food and put out cookies, and track Santa, and read the Polar Express!!! Whew that's a lot!
It's truly my favorite night of the year. Such a special feeling and so much excitement.
