Sawyer Funeral and Preston Parade and Carnival

This is a hard one to talk about. No words to describe the events that have happened in my dear friend Lindsays family. While we were headed to the beach in California I got a phone call from Errin and I knew right away something was very wrong. She was anything but calm and started to tell me how she had gotten word from Joelle through Shannon Sawyer that 5 members of her family had been killed in a horrific car accident on I15 as the family was heading home from their family trip. I could barely believe what I was hearing. This is Lindsays husband Sage’s family. His brother, his brothers wife, and 3 of their nieces and nephews. Since getting the news it’s been an absolute nightmare. We haven’t even known how to console Lindsay. Our hearts just ache for the pain and incredible loss they are experiencing. Going to those funerals will be something that. I will never forget. So much pain for one family. Lindsay and Sage have been doing whatever they possibly can to keep their family together and support them and I know it’s taking an incredible toll on them. Really there are just no words. I am so grateful for the knowledge that Families are Forever. I’m praying they rely on our Savior to help them navigate through this incredible tragedy. We’ve done whatever we can to stand by Lindsay but it’s hard to know what to do. We attended the funeral before we we headed up to Preston Idaho for the parade and carnival.

Of course the parade was as awesome as ever but I don’t think we’ll be going to the carnival again. It has just turned so trashy and it smelled horrible the entire time. We may just have to go to the one in South Jordan and hope it’s better than this one has become. But the kids scored bags full of candy and of course all sort of other item being thrown like milk, frisbees, t shirts, toilet paper, mugs and whatever else Preston can come up with. Hahaha

California Adventure

This was kind of the main reason for our trip. We all really wanted to see the new Avengers Campus but it wasn’t opened the last time we were here…but it was close. It did not disappoint! We were lucky to get into the Spider-Man ride and all of the kids loved it. They had some cool shows with Dr. Strange and Spiderman and Star-Lord. The Campus looked so cool and they had some action scenes going while we ate our food at Pims Kitchen which may have been the best highlight of the day. The food was SO good and so fun. Everything was so unique and fun sizes and we just really loved the food. Tate and Kemp were so excited to make their little spider-bots and had fun picking out their shells. I of course loved going on the Guardians of the Galaxy ride as many times as possible but the lines were a bit longer today. We did get Tate to go on the Incredicoaster…but only once. He and I did some other things while the others went on it a second time. We all went on Grizzly Rapids and loved getting wet since it was such a hot day. Really it was another wonderful day at California Adventure. No complaints, all smiles and laughs and already planning our next trip back to Avengers Campus.

Crescent Bay Beach and the Angels Game

The next morning we woke up and drove down to the beach where our friends the Thompsons live. We got to see their incredible beach house and had a lot of fun visiting with them. Such great people. They let us borrow their boogie boards and told us a couple of great beaches to go to. We ended up at Crescent Bay Beach. Pretty private beach. The kids had a blast just playing in the sand and exploring. The waves were alright. Sure don't feel like a we get to a beach enough. After a few hours we headed back home and decided to go to an Angels game. Elle didn't want to go and neither did Kemp so it was just Toby, me, Cash, and Tate. We "Ubered" there and got great seats. We got talking to a guy who had a son that played football in high school and found out who toby and his dad were and long story short Toby ended up getting this kid a chance to play at NAVY. Pretty cool. Anyway by the time the game was over the Uber prices had skyrocketed so Toby decided to have us walk home. I was devastated. hahah. It was about a 2 mile walk and it was late and I was exhausted and sick but hey...made for yet another funny memory.
